I will contribute to this fight. I wonder why they are going after us few legal people who follow all the rules and regulations and pay taxes and contribute to the economy and the society rather than going after the 12 million of undocumented workers

See how Numbers USA propaganda
They are saying these bills grant Amnesty.
I pity them.

Please contact your U.S. Representative through the Capitol Switchboard (202-224-3121) and ask him/her to do everything possible to stop the passage of three bills in the House Judiciary Committee today: H.R. 5882, a bill that would add an additional 550,000 permanent green cards; H.R. 5924, which would add 20,000 additional foreign nurses per year for three years (plus their families); and H.R. 6020, which would grant amnesty to the illegal-alien spouses, children, brothers, sisters and parents of all 23 million U.S. military veterans

That seems to be the way where this is heading. Would this be another july fiasco?.
I dont mean to sound negative but I desperately need a way to file I-485 for my wife to get EAD. She has been rejected twice just coz she did not have a work permit/or was not a GC holder/citizen.
Mind you she has a brilliant engineering academic record and worked in India for 2 years a Java programmer before marrying me
I don't know if USCIS has "wasted" visa numbers but just like the Government has been "borrowing" money from future why cant they borrow "visa numbers" from future (or even past for that matter)...does sound ridiculous  The economy is in recession for last 2 years for sure. Less and less number of folks are filing for GC. I would expect the EB1 numbers spilling over big time to EB2. That has not happened. Its been 3 loooong years after the July 07 fiasco and USCIS still doesnt have enough numbers to clear the backlog...this is BS.
Bottomline is we do need USCIS to advance the dates rapidly enough so that thousands like me can be relieved of their daily ordeal in US....sorry for the selfish thought..:o I just had a shot of tequila....

Does this amendment strictly apply to new H1B filings or will it also impact people with H1B and an approved I-140 but need to extend it due to retrogression?
Regarding the exodus, maybe that is their purpose. Maybe, they have enough
hi-tech workers and they don't need more. I guess we need to watch and wait and accept this as a reality.
They get their way to kick H1 people out. I was wondering what their plans be for kicking GC holders and some who got citizenship out. Bring KKK back ??
The way things are, this does not look like the glorious country I dreamed of.
Last year facing long period of uncertainity I and my wife had made a decision to go back to India after meeting breaking even on our house.
I think most of us wanted to be in US in the first place because we thought that legal systems work here and justice is upheld. If we have to fight with the system anyway, why do it in a foreign land? Better to go home and make that place better .. probably good enough for them to envy.
As of now this country seems to be exactly opposite of what they claim to be.
Justice - not served to us
Freedom & liberty - not if you are on H1
Free economy & globalization - Only if it benefits us
Compassion & Humanitarianism - Only if you are American citizens. We don't care if farmers are comitting suicides in India or starving in Mexico due to our policies & subsidies.
The way I see it American dream is going to turn into American nightmare for many of us.
I think every one is waiting for their proverbial last straw. Is it the one ?? A million dollar question.

I just looked at my old cases(H1Bs-I-129) and i see LUDs on them too!!! This is so weird.
These are from my last company!
LUD on 05/06/2006 - Approved on October 11, 2003
LUD on 10/21/2007 - Approved on March 19, 2002
I see LUDs but no difference in the status. They both say approval notice sent.

Anybody has this situation?
My case was sent by my attorney June 29th (current July bulletin) USPS certified mail.
As per USPS online tracking record it was delivered July 2nd 12.45 PM.
No receipt yet. So far sounds okay.
But I got the copy of actual delivery receipt stamped by F.Heinauer (Director NSC USCIS) with the date 062907.
It is a stamp so some of their employee clearly has stamped it.
Now I am confused if that’s the receipt date they are going to go with and may reject the application.
And with this many application it may take more than AUG 17th to receive anything back.
I am very sure it was reached on July 2nd. It was only sent June 29th afternoon.
And USPS is telling there is no delivery can reach so fast. According to USPS the guy who might have stamped the delivery did not changed the stamp date from 0629 to 0702 since it was a weekend.
Anybody in the same situation? Any advice?
Thanks
To my best knowledge only thing that counts is date of delivery : For all July bulletin , the receipt delivery date shud be July 2 + , i believe anything received before this date will be considered cases whose dates are not current.

// 2006 PD filers dont worry abt spouse 485. Your PD would become available only after couple of years. My PD is Sept 2005 and I dont anticipate to get my GC within 2yrs. For reference look at the PERM data that is published, you would get a good idea. //
So, we (who are not married and PD 2006/2007 EB2) file 485 now and wait for our PD to come CURRENT again to file our spouse 485. We'll maintain our
H1B and bring her here on H4 and then wait for the PD to become CURRENT.
If she decides to go on H1 or F1, then we'll be able to invoke our EAD and change employers if needed, else what's the use even applying for 485 alone if we don't want to use the EAD at all ??

Hardwork of immigrants is the bedrock of American society. If seen in that light it makes perfect sense. "We deserve," this thought also ties into the Pygmalion theory. That is the American way. This is not a collective but an individualistic society, unless you showcase your achievments they won't be fully acknowledged. Unless you show that you deserve nobody is going to give it to you.
On another note, I give my example, I changed my job last year and relocated. I don't work for a consultant either. My earlier priority date was Sept. 2002 but I was willing to make a move and not be held hostage to retrogression. I knew it would be tough and many of my friends on H1-B thought it was a bad decision. Atleast, now I won't regret not making a decision. This maybe an isolated example but my old employer hired two American workers to replace me. Maybe its because we work harder or maybe because its both, smarter and harder. As JFK said,"We want to go to the Moon not because it is eazy but because it is hard." We deserve as much as born citizens if not more based on our contribution to this great nation of immigrants.

I will continue to contribute to IV even I get my GC in few months (highly unlikely) until the goals of IV are met. Also salutations and big thanks to the spouses and families of IV core. Their contribution and sacrifice is unsung, but in my opinion their sacrifice of their loved ones time and spending all savings for good cause is remarkable in itself. A big applause to the families of IV core for being so understanding.
